Originally scheduled for production in the spring of 2020, we are finally giving this fabulous play the U.S. Premiere it deserves!

Legends in wait, the worlds of Narnia and Middle Earth may never have come to be were it not for an unlikely friendship between J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S. Lewis. TOLKIEN by Ron Reed tells the stirring story of the transformative friendship between Tolkien and Lewis, spanning decades. The show features an ensemble cast of characters, followed from 1926 through 1963, amidst global tumult and personal trials. Tolkien and Lewis pushed each others’ imaginations, faith, and curiosity, growing together – and eventually growing apart.

TOLKIEN was given its professional premiere at the Pacific Theatre in Vancouver, Canada. Our production this season will be the U.S. Premiere.

Runtime: Approx. 2 hours 30 minutes + 15 minute intermission (total runtime just under 3 hours)

Content Advisory: Occasional moderate profanity and some moderately graphic descriptions of atrocities committed during the Spanish Civil War.

Minimum Age & Recommended Age: Please note that we have a strict 4-year-old minimum age requirement for all regular season productions. Recommended age for Tolkien is 13 & up.

Childcare Option: We now offer affordable, on-site childcare for all Saturday matinee (2:00 PM) performances. Childcare slots must be purchased in advance during checkout for Saturday matinee tickets.

Pay-As-You’re-Able: All Saturday matinee (2:00 PM) performances are Pay-As-You’re-Able. Set your own price per ticket ($5 min) during checkout for Saturday matinees.
